Degrees and Certifications:
Masters in Teaching Bachelor of Arts Theater with minor in Philosophy
Ms. Kathleen Reed
Hello and Welcome!
I have worked for over a decade here at Fairmount Elementary. I have a Master degree in teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from the University of Washington, with a minor in philosophy. Your child can look forward to learning so many amazing things this year! From learning about the properties of water, the way muscles and bones work, why magnets only "stick" to certain things, and how electricity works, to learning about the engineering process, your child will have a blast in science! In fourth grade, we'll travel through time to learn how our northwest corner of the world was populated. In math, your child will get to multiply and divide BIG numbers, using several different algorithms. We will learn about the metric system (King Henry Doesn't Usually Drink Chocolate Milk!) and the standard system of measurement. We'll learn about quadrangles, obtuse and acute angles, symmetry, and so much more! We will write stories, poems, and essays! We will READ~READ~READ, including tall tales, fairy tales, myths, magazines, and more! I use technology extensively in class (because I love it!) so your child can look forward to that as well. I also try very hard to develop a personal relationship with each child in my class.
I look forward to a fabulous year!
