Welcome! Bienvenidos! It is my pleasure to work at Olivia Park Elementary. When I'm not working with my amazing students, you can find me learning languages, gardening, and salsa dancing. I have lived in Ecuador, Brazil, and Kurdistan, Iraq and enjoy sharing those experiences in my classroom. I love to speak Spanish and (a small ammount of!) Arabic or Portuguese with students and families. I especially love learning new words and phrases in the languages of my students!
My passions in education center around the use of Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices and the principles of Universal Design:
- building strong relationships with students and their families
- honoring the cultures and backgrounds of my students, so that they know that their lived experiences are integral parts of our school learning community
- striving to give all students access to rigorous instruction that meets their learning needs and prepares them to access the opportunities necessary to feel successful and fulfilled in their adult lives
- promoting intercultural understanding in the world through education
