The 4th quarter began this week with our official “distance learning” model.  All teachers are posting activities and assignments in their Google Classrooms, and students are required to engage in their classes.  At this point, new assignments will be graded and entered into the gradebook.  Teachers have been given guidance for remote instruction: the maximum time for active student engagement per day is 30 minutes per class (3 hours max per day), and teachers should not exceed one or two new lessons each week.  We don’t want to overwhelm students with learning materials and assignments, so we’ve encouraged our teachers to keep it simple and focus on essential standards.  It’s also important for you to know that no student will receive a failing grade for the second semester.  However, if they do not engage, they will receive an Incomplete grade which will have to be made up at some point.  The bottom line is...please encourage your students to engage in distance learning so they can stay on track with their academics.  We continue to learn how to provide instruction from a distance, and we appreciate your patience.  I believe education will be better in the future as a result of this unfortunate situation.  We are currently planning our traditional spring events, but we’ll be using virtual platforms.  We’ll recognize students through photos and videos, and we’ll try to include as many students and staff as possible.  Students will receive physical awards (certificates, plaques, honor cords, etc.) later in May and early June.  Please continue to check your student’s grades on Qmlativ, and don’t hesitate to contact their teachers if you have any questions.  Our admin team is alway available for questions as well.
