Mrs. Idso
Hello! My name is Mrs. Idso and I’ve been teaching 5th grade at Mukilteo Elementary since midway through the 2001-02 school year. Teaching is really a third career for me, but one in which I find great satisfaction and hope for our collective future each and every day. I’m part of a very effective fifth grade team of teachers who share their talents and plan together to make learning for our students both fun and meaningful. Since 2012, I have been the teacher-liaison for our MEco Outdoor Classroom, and I lead the MEco Leadership Voice Group of fifth graders at school. Before my teaching career, I held management positions in both the hospitality and public relations industries in New York City and Seattle after graduating from UCLA (Go Bruins!) My other career is being “mom” to two grown sons; our oldest is a chemical engineer and our youngest, a graphic artist. For the past 30 years, I have lived on Whidbey Island with my husband Marv, a retired banker, who is now known affectionately as “Farmer Marv.” When I’m not teaching, I can be found playing the piano, riding horses, gardening, baking, reading, writing and hiking.
