• Assignment Sheet for the Week of June 1 - June 5, 2020 WEEK 8

    Here are some things to do at home if you are not able to be on Google Classroom.

    If your child is working at home, just not using Google Classroom, please send me an email at chismkl@mukilteo.wednet.edu so I know. I can check Raz kids and Moby max. ATTENDANCE IS TAKEN EACH WEEK.

    1. READING- Read 20 minutes every day! Read a variety of fiction and nonfiction books. Use Raz kids! These books are leveled for EACH student! The more they read and test, the higher they can go! This is something they CAN do on their own. Read out loud. Read silently. Read a poem. Read the words to your favorite song. Print out the words and follow along as someone is singing or reading. See if you can notice 1-2 words that you don’t know. Look them up and write them in your vocabulary journal. THIS WEEK: We are working on finding an authors opinion and sharing the supporting reasons. Read your Making Meaning book pages 30-31. You will see the author’s opinion about zoos. See if you can find some supporting details about the author’s opinion.

     

    1. MATH- THIS WEEK: Do pages 285-292 in the student math book. This continues to be one of the hardest things we have done this year and your child will need help. Do pages 293-296- This is a review TEST. Answers are all on Google Classroom. Do Moby Max! The MATH tab is leveled and the teaching is for EACH student! This is something they CAN do on their own. Work on flash cards! 1-20 facts need to be automatic by the end of second grade. Work on your Rise and Shine folder daily. Make up math problems and solve them. Play a math game with your family. Count aloud by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Count coins. Play store in your house and “buy” things to see if you have enough.

     

    1. WRITING- Write something every day- about 10 minutes! THIS WEEK: we are typing up our information and sharing it with the teacher. Try to start each sentence with a capital and end with a period. Look up words you don’t know and spell them correctly. Write about someone- either a person or a pet and use lots od adjectives. Adjectives are describing words. The young boy had black hair and green eyes. Young, black, and green are all adjectives. See if you can describe someone or something without naming it and see if someone can guess. Example: This is cold and sweet. It can taste creamy or salty. It can have big chunks of chocolate or cookie dough in it. It can be made of fresh strawberries or raspberries. It is yummy for dessert. (ICE CREAM)

     

    1. SCIENCE- We are continuing to learn about insects and notice the difference between insects and other animals. Google search some insect videos. Use kids national geographic and read some information about insects.

    OLIVIA PARK TECHNOLOGY HELP:

    Greetings! In person computer help is now available! Every Thursday in the Olivia Park library from 9am-12pm, you may come in to get help with any technology issues or needs. You may drop in at any time between 9 and 12. If you would like an interpreter, please send me an email at mcgoldenma@mukilteo.wednet.edu ahead of time so that I can arrange for that. Please bring your computer fully charged. If a different time is needed-earlier or later, please email me and we can arrange that. As always, if you just have a question, you may email me about that.

    Technology Services Service Desk (Help Desk) is staffed daily, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
