Discovery Elementary is 48,951 sq ft and has 10 portable classrooms. The project consists of new construction of a two-story elementary school classroom addition of approximately 28,700 square feet and will add sixteen (16) new classrooms, two (2) project labs, staff offices, restrooms, and associated building support space.

Challenger and Horizon Elementary are approximately one (1) mile away from each other and have similar scope. As such, they are being managed as a single project. Both Challenger and Horizon will receive new gym spaces, remodels or additions to their kitchens, music rooms, boiler rooms, related support spaces and new covered play areas. The total new or renovated space at Challenger is approximately 9,119 square feet and includes a new community room. The total new or renovated space at Horizon is approximately 4,267 square feet and will get a new play structure for the playground.

The project at Mariner High School includes demolition of the current library and counseling center, and the addition of a new two-story student center, library, student store, counseling, career center and three (3) flex classrooms. The new two-story addition contains approximately 27,000 square feet. The addition is organized around a new two-story student commons. The new addition is located at the center of the campus, on the south side of the main east-west corridor, directly opposite the main entrance corridor and close to the administration area. Construction will begin June 2023 with scheduled completion in August 2024.

Mukilteo Elementary School was built in 1982. The school is located within the City of Mukilteo on 9.8 acres. Permanent square footage is 41,727 and there are ten (10) portable classrooms. A master plan for an entire school replacement including the scope of Phase I has been completed. Phase I will relocate ten existing classrooms into a new building.  The new building will be approximately 19,973 square feet.  The project will include site work consisting of a play area, walkways, fire lane improvements, and landscaping.  New utility services will include a storm detention system.  The district anticipates construction starting in Summer 2024 and completion in Fall 2025.

Explorer Middle School was built in 1973 with some renovations in 1989 and 2005. The school is located within the City of Everett on 29.5 acres. Permanent square footage is 129,296 and there are 8 portable classrooms. A master plan for an entire school replacement and determining Phase I scope has been completed.  In Phase I a new stand-along building will be constructed including a gymnasium, auxiliary gymnasium, fitness room and associated support spaces.  The new building will be approximately 21,800 square feet.  The football field and track will be replaced with a synthetic turf field and rubberized track.  Site work will include walkways, landscaping, and utilities.  The district anticipates construction starting in Summer 2024 and completion in Fall 2025.

Serene Lake Elementary School was built in 1968 with some renovations in 1994 and 1996. The school is located within the Unincorporated Snohomish County on 10.0 acres. Permanent square footage is 49,230 and there are four (4) portable classrooms. This project will be Phase I of a full school replacement. Phase I will include construction of a new two-story classroom building, approximately 15,600 square feet, containing eight classrooms and support spaces.  Site improvements to support the new facility will include a new water main, fire hydrants, connections to utilities such as sewer and storm water, walkways and landscaping.  Building 200, containing classrooms, will be demolished at the end of the project.  The district anticipates construction starting in Summer 2024 and completion in Fall 2025.

Demolished existing roof membrane components, inspected coverboard and made any repairs needed, installed new roofing.

Restoration of the exterior insulation finishing systems and installation of rainscreen wall panel system was completed on the west wall. The remainder of the building's exterior was cleaned and painted.

Installed heat trace on the sprinkler and mechanical piping in the soffit. In addition, the new heat trace was tied into the fire alarm system.

Replacements for the majority of the school’s HVAC equipment and upgraded the existing controls to a DDC system. Additional repairs and upgrades were made to the facilities envelope to reduce infiltration, such as installation of new KEE Stone FB-60 roofing membrane, new flooring in hallways and multi-purpose room, and installation of new energy-efficient windows.

Replaced 2 chillers, 1 gas water heater and 1 electric water heater, replaced 2 inline hot water recirculation pumps, replaced 1 and added 1 expansion tank.
