Transportation Levy

  • What does the transportation levy pay for?

Transportation Vehicle Fund levies are used to purchase school buses. The money from the levy is then augmented by depreciation payments from the state during the first eight or 13 years of each new vehicle's service life. Voters in the Mukilteo School District approved a Transportation Levy in November 2012 that gave the school district the authority to collect $3 million during 2013. That authority expired on December 31, 2013. The money collected through the levy was used to purchase about 30 new school buses.
