  • Hello Odyssey Families!!!

    As our time comes to a close, I find myself doing even more reflecting than normal.  The 2019-20 school year is certainly not ending the way that any of us had anticipated when we started our journey in the fall.  However, we accomplished so much together before school doors closed, AND after through distance learning.  I want to thank every parent, grandparent, and family member who partnered with Odyssey in any way during this difficult time.  We are grateful to you all for helping your child(ren) to stay engaged with learning in whatever capacity you could.  Every little bit helps, and we at Odyssey want to say, “Thank you!”

    There are many end of the year traditions and routines that are going to be different this year. For one, we will be mailing your child’s second trimester report card, third trimester grade level standards covered through distance learning, a yearbook (if ordered), and for our 5th graders their Odyssey certificate of completion to your home/mailing address.  Also Mr. Oxner, our dean of students, is putting together daily videos this week that will be posted in your child’s Google Classroom.  As you watch the videos this week, reflect on all the good things that happened this year as we say, “Good-bye” for the summer.  There is even a special ‘Step Up Ceremony’ featuring our very own Captain Can!  We hope you enjoy these videos our last week together via distance learning for this school year.

    Before I close, I just want to give a few updates and reminders:

    • School Computer - If your child is borrowing a school device for distance learning they will keep this device through the summer and bring it back to school with them in the fall.  This includes 5th graders who are going to a middle school within Mukilteo School District (Voyager, Explorer, Olympic View, or Harbor Point).  If you are moving/leaving Odyssey then please contact Mr. Oxner (oxnerrj@mukilteo.wednet.edu) as he will work with you to collect the device by June 22nd.   
    • Library Books - Mrs. Whitaker would love to get all library books back from our students who may have some at home.  This includes both returning students and those students who will be leaving us next year.  You can drop books off at Odyssey any time during our food service window, which is 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM today through Friday.  If you have questions or concerns please reach out to Mrs. Whitaker (whitakertm@mukilteo.wednet.edu).
    • Material Bag - If you have yet to pick up your material bag you can still get it during our food service window (see above for times and days).  All returning students to Odyssey who have bags left at the end of this week, can pick them up next year in their new classroom.  
    • PTA Support – Don’t forget your child can vote on their favorite student art submission for our fabulous PTA’s Orca Wear Contest this week.  Mr. Pelton is running the voting in Google Classroom. I can’t wait to see which Odyssey artist wins!
