• Reading Intervention Program

Odyssey's Reading Intervention program has been in existence since 1997.  In year's past, we have had funding to offer an extended school day to students who are performing below grade level in reading in the primary grades. Recently, we have two instructional blocks scheduled during the school day, one for each primary and intermediate. Students who fall below grade level are served in this program by certificated support teachers and trained paraprofessionals.

Research and district supported tools are used to decide which students qualify for our reading intervention program.  Once the students are entered, their progress is monitored closely to make sure that they are making adequate progress; if they are not, their intervention is changed based on their needs.

Research-based literacy programs are used to provide instruction to these students.  The goal is that, with this instruction, students meet grade level standard and no longer need these intensive services.
