Degrees and Certifications:

Neil Adkison

Hello and welcome to Mr. A's page. I recently moved to Seattle from the Dayton, Ohio area and am in my second year in the district. I obtained my history degree and initial teaching license in Texas before moving to Ohio to work in the musical arts. I have been teaching for over 20 years in the classroom and outside marching band. Before deciding to focus solely on classroom teaching here at Aces I have been fortunate to travel around the globe to Canada, Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Amsterdam, France, Japan, and Indonesia. I also used to play in the drumline for the Golden State Warriors and the San Fransisco 49ers, which was a blast!

Moving to Seattle has been the best decision I have made to date. I grew up on the west coast and it feels good to be back "home". My wife is also a special services teacher in our district at one of our k-2 bridges programs and works with students with autism. She has been my greatest motivator as I get to watch her succeed at her job. I recently got into rock climbing and the physical and mental benefits are incredible. It also helps living in the PNW where there are over 10,000 bolted climbing routes within a few hour drive!

While working with musicians in Ohio, I began working as a paraprofessional at a K-12 program who served students with mild to moderate behaviors. This is where I was introduced to the world of Special Education and immediately began to appreciate the connections made with my students in need. All of these experiences have helped lead me to my new role as a World History teacher and Special Services provider in the Mukilteo district. I believe we have a phenominal team here at Aces and am honored to get to work with our student population!
