  • Message for 4/27 – 5/1

    Hello Parents and Students!

On Friday, I sent an email invite to each parent to join Google Classroom as a parent.  By joining, it will allow Google Classroom to send you a weekly summary of your child’s work.  Be sure and accept this invite! If you don’t see it, you might check your spam or junk folder.  It will come from Google, not me.  Please let me know if you did not receive this email.

Starting this week, I will only be checking current assignments.  Each assignment given is due by the following day.  It is ok to turn in late, but please make a best effort to complete work the day it is assigned.  This way I can respond to students needs more efficiently.  Don’t worry about ANY of the work assigned before 4/27.  I will not be going back and scoring or returning that work.  If your child posts a question to me and does not hear from me within 24 hours, please email me to let me know.  Thank you!

On Wednesday, I will post a video going over Video Conferencing.  I will also send each parent an email with an invitation(on Wednesday) to join a Zoom Video Conference for Thursday, April 30th at 11:00.  If your child cannot attend this meeting, don’t worry! I will collect feedback from families and try and accommodate as many as we can.  These meetings are not required.  They are just a chance for students to see me (and each other) in real time.

This Tuesday and Wednesday, Families can come to Olivia Park to pick up their children’s materials that were left at school.

    Assigned Dates:

    • Last name beginning with A-M come Tuesday, April 28th between 10-3
    • Last name beginning with N-Z come Wednesday, April 29th between 10-3.
    • Don’t forget to bring any LIBRARY BOOKS you might have at your house.
    • I will be at Olivia Park saying hello (from a distance) both days from 11:30-12:30. 😊

Again, let me know what I can do to help.

    Thank you!

    Mrs. Burke

Reminder! Announcement from the Olivia Park office: Student Materials Pick-up - Come get all of your stuff that was in your desk or in the classroom.

Look for those library books! Bring them with you when you come pick up your things on your assigned date!

    • Students with the last name beginning with A-M pick up materials on April 28th from 10:00-3:00
    • Students with the last name beginning with N-Z pick up materials on April 29th from 10:00-3:00
    • Families can have someone pick up their materials if they can’t make it.
    • We encourage families to come in a vehicle in order to keep an appropriate social distance, but if that is not possible we will have a station for walk-ups.
    • We encourage students to return library books on April 28th or April 29th.
    • We will have Lost and Found materials out on tables in front of the school.

    April 20, 2020 - April 24, 2020

    Hello Families!

Each day this week students should go onto Google Classroom and they will find new assignments posted.  The students will need to watch the Morning Announcement,  complete a math assignment, and an ELA assignment.  Have them message me if they are having trouble with the documents.  I am continuing to work out the bugs as I create new assignments using this platform.  Thank you for your patience! 😊

Students need to remember to log in to Google Classroom each day to check their assignments.  I will no longer be emailing daily messages and reminders. If your child has not logged on to Google Classroom yet, I will contact you individually.  Also, please remember to check the class website for information.  https://www.mukilteoschools.org/Domain/1796

If you child has not completed the Google Classroom Agreement Form, they need to do that by the end of the week.

Next week, on the 28th and 29th, families are ASSIGNED a time to come by school and pick up your child’s materials and belongings that were left at school.  I will be going in to school this week to place all of their materials in a bag on their desk.  Then we have other staff (practicing social distancing guidelines) collecting the bags in a central location and organizing them by family.  You will have a pick up date (either the 28th or the 29th) where you will drive up to school and a staff member will hand you your children’s materials.

*Note: There will be no office hours this Thursday, April 24.  I will be on campus sorting and prepping student materials.

I look forward to a busy week, and hope to see each and every student active in Google Classroom each day.  Thank you for your support!

    Mrs. Burke

  • April 17, 2020

Good Morning Families and Happy Friday!

This morning there is simply a Morning Announcement for students to read, and then Mark as Done.  I am gearing up for a full week of “Practice” next week, where students will have an assignment in each subject area, each day.  Beginning next week, I will only email on Mondays.  I realize that families with multiple children are getting MANY emails from their children’s different teachers.  It will be the student’s responsibility to log in each day to Google Classroom and check their assignments.

If I see that your child is not logging in to Google Classroom, I will reach out to you to see if I can help you troubleshoot the technology.

I hope everyone is staying healthy!

    Mrs. Burke

  • April 16, 2020

    Good Morning Families,

Today your child should watch two new videos posted at 9:00 am “Morning Announcement” and “Google Classroom Mark as Done Directions”.  These short videos will show students how to mark an assignment as done, as well as a sample Morning Announcement message.  In addition, there is a second optional math activity students can do.  Next week I will post optional assignments in all three areas: reading, writing, and math.  Students should do their best to complete all assignments each day.

    Thank you!

    Mrs. Burke

    Good Morning Families!

Today you will find a video posted under Morning Announcements in the CLASSWORK section of our google classroom account.  Today’s video goes over Google Classroom guidelines.  Please watch the video, and then complete the quick, easy form.  Then, don’t forget to go BACK to the original assignment and click on the “Mark as Done” button.  This lets me know that you watched the video.

Also, please go back to yesterday’s assignment and click on the “Mark as Done” button for that assignment as well.  I know that many of you watched the video, but only 4 students show that the assignment was complete (remember, there isn’t really an “assignment”… it was just to watch the video and complete the form).

Thank you!!! We are getting closer to having our classroom up and running with everyone participating.  I’m hoping we can schedule a Zoom conference call with everyone soon as well! I miss you all so much!

  • March 31, 2020

Good morning students! Today is Tuesday, March 31st. I hope many of you have had a chance to pick up the practice packet, or print a copy from home.  Another option would be to view the packet online, but do the work on scratch paper from home.

In addition, please go to our Google Classroom page and answer the quick survey question on the Google Forms.  I am practicing different ways to work together in the coming weeks.  You can even just use a phone to go to our website and check it out! I hope to hear from many of you SOON! :)

How do I get to Google Classroom from home?

    Follow these steps:

    • Go to the Student Site
    • Click on Google Classroom under Student Links
    • Click on our Classroom Icon
    • You MUST be signed in to our SCHOOL google account.  You cannot access our google classroom through a parents gmail account.
    • Sign in: your child's student id number@mukilteo.wednet.edu  EX: 1234567@mukilteo.wednet.edu

Check out our own MILAGROS doing a live Facebook art class.  She holds live classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00-10:30.  You should definitely join her!

    https://www.facebook.com/artofche/videos/230630024789798/?vh=e&d=n

  • Log-In information:

One helpful hint is to remember that you may have to log into Google to get to some of the programs. Your email, or Google log-in, is your student number followed by @mukilteo.wednet.edu.

    Example: 1234567@mukilteo.wednet.edu

Your password is your first and last initial capitalized followed by your student number.

    Example: RW1234567

You can use this to log into Prodigy, Clever, Google Classroom, and other programs.
