I’m Jill Mayer, and I am delighted to work with your young people here at Mukilteo Virtual Academy. I know that each of you worked with your children and recognized that distance learning is the right fit for your students. Because you chose this customized learning academy, I know that you and your students are a special group of families who essentially, “stood-up, when given the choice, and said: I WANT TO BE HERE!"

I have been a career-long fitness educator, starting during my own high school experience. I was a 3-sport, high school athlete, and I had the honor of playing college basketball. My own coaching experiences began with high school athletes, while earning my teaching degree. Later, I added a Master of Education degree in Secondary Instruction & Curriculum. To round out these experiences, I even had a stint away from education when I followed another passion, and pursued a career in the multi-layered field of marketing. I returned to our Mukilteo School district, and now have 18 years of teaching in this, my home.

My active interests include lots of time hiking with family, exploring the Pacific Northwest with our lovely golden retriever, Izzie, and learning about fitness topics, history, genealogy, and creative culinary pursuits – Never a dull moment, to be sure!

Today, and every day, it is my enthusiastic joy to share my optimism about working with your students! I can think of no better teaching and learning environment, than one in which all parties have chosen to be "in the room together!" As your student's teacher, I feel fortunate and blessed to work with your young people here at the Mukilteo Academy…So I thank YOU for this privilege. Together, we are all becoming “Big-and-Brave-and -Safe-and-Strong!” in our new family at Mukilteo  Virtual Academy!
