Welcome! My name is Bethenee Grant Engelsvold, and I currently support students and staff as the Elementary Support Specialist (ESS) here at Picnic Point Elementary. I have worked in the Mukilteo School District since 2016 and in public schools since 2009. My prior experience includes working as a school psychologist, directing a district mentoring program, and serving as a district behavior specialist. I have degrees both in school psychology and in mental health counseling, and I have worked for several years providing assessment, intervention and crisis response support to both children and adults.
In addition to my work in the public schools, I currently teach undergraduate psychology courses as an adjunct professor of psychology at Northwest University, and have worked as a clinical adjunct instructor at the University of Washington, Seattle, and at Trinity Lutheran College.
What I find meaningful is talking to, connecting with, and helping children and their parents! I would like the students here to think of my office as a warm and friendly place where they are always welcome. My office is also a place where they can get help if they feel confused or worried.
Picnic Point is a great school in a great district! But that doesn't mean that our students won't face challenges while they are here, and I would like your children to know that there is always an adult at the school who will listen and help them be their best selves. As an ESS, my primary responsibility is to promote the personal, social and academic welfare and development of all students. I look forward to offering support to students, staff, families and community!
