Pathfinder wins award for innovative learning space
Pathfinder Kindergarten Center was selected as the first place winner at the South by Southwest Education (SXSW EDU) Conference and Festival and Learn by Design Competition, a four-day event held recently in Austin, Texas. The school was among 10 finalists selected from applicants from around the world such as Japan, Lebanon, and Australia.
The Learn by Design competition is in its second year and celebrates the creativity, innovation and incredible design acumen happening worldwide. Annie Johnson, executive director of elementary education, along with Todd Ferking, DLR-architect, entered Pathfinder in the competition. Each of the finalists competed by giving presentations about project concepts and successful outcomes.
SXSW EDU is a program that works to cultivate and empower a community of engaged stakeholders to advance teaching and learning. Learn by Design is a program at SXSW EDU that focuses on the design of physical learning spaces and how they have the potential to impact learning outcomes. The annual event provides access to engaging sessions, immersive workshops, interactive learning experiences, and networking.
