How to get information about school closures or delays.

It’s winter, which means there is the possibility of snow. Here’s a reminder that if inclement weather, a power outage, or some other emergency makes it necessary to close or delay the opening of some or all of the Mukilteo schools, that information will be made available in a number of different ways:

CHECK THE LOCAL MEDIA

Many local radio stations provide regular reports on school closures, including KRKO (1380 AM), KIRO (97.3 FM), or KOMO (1000 AM). As for television stations, watch the morning news on KOMO (Channel 4), KING (Channel 5), KIRO (Channel 7) or KCPQ (Channel 13).

CHECK YOUR EMAIL

Information about any school closures or delays will be sent to all subscribers of the school district’s listserv. If you are not already a subscriber, you can sign up by going to the Listserv Subscriptions webpage, clicking on the box for “Mukilteo School District Information,” entering your name and email address at the bottom of the form, and clicking on the “Subscribe” button. Information also will be sent to parents who have entered their email address into the student information system. For more information, go to https://mukilteoschooldistrict.bbcportal.com.

CHECK THE WEBSITE.

You also can check the status by going to this school district website. Information about school closures or delays is also made available to the local media through a service called FlashAlert. You can go directly to the Flash Alert website at www.flashalert.net.

REQUEST TO BE NOTIFIED BY TEXT.

A feature called Blackboard Connect will allow you to select whether you want to receive notifications by text or email, or both. For details, go to https://mukilteoschooldistrict.bbcportal.com. There are other options for getting text messages, as well. You can sign up for FlashAlert Messenger by going to www.flashalert.net or sign up for one of the many such services offered by local TV and radio stations.
