Washington State Department of Health just released new guidelines for COVID-related responses. The primary changes are for isolation (positive persons and those with symptoms) and quarantine (close contacts). District leadership is reviewing those changes and how they will affect schools, staffing and procedures. Please watch for updates coming later this week, but until then, schools will follow the existing guidelines.
The district has been working with the testing provider to refine the testing previously held at the district office so that we can better serve staff and students. We are working out some final details and will share the new testing information with staff and families soon. Future testing opportunities will be by appointment only which should be more efficient for those needing testing and help avoid the traffic issues we experienced due to the high demand. It will also be limited to students and staff. Thank you for your patience as we finalize the new testing procedures.
POTENTIAL TRANSPORTATION SHORTAGES
The ongoing pandemic continues to challenge all functions in the district including student transportation. Buses are still operating as normal but a recent increase in bus driver shortages may cause impacts to student transportation. We strongly encourage families to build contingency transportation plans now, hoping they aren’t needed.
We are working to minimize disruption as much as possible and to ensure no single route, school, or area of the district is impacted more than others. Changes may include temporary route cancellations for some middle school or high school routes or late-arriving elementary school routes by up to 30 minutes for pick-up and drop-off to operate double-run routes. Any specific route impacts will be communicated to families with as much notification as possible.
We are hiring in all fields! See all current openings on the employment website. Learn more in one of the district’s weekly information sessions held each Thursday via Zoom from 4 to 5 p.m. Click here to join weekly informational Zoom meeting. Passcode: 766808
