May 27, 2022 Family message

Dear Mukilteo School District families,

NEW COMMUNICATION TOOL

We are excited to announce that we adopted a new form of school-to-home communication called ParentSquare starting June 1. This unified communications platform is designed to keep you informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with your school and district. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and families to:

  • Send and receive school and class information
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Sign up to volunteer
  • Schedule family-teacher conferences
  • and much more . . . all in one centralized place!

Beginning June 1, schools and district information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text using ParentSquare. Our current Blackboard communication system will be our backup until the end of the school year, so you may receive messages on either platform for a few weeks. Teachers also have access to ParentSquare and may start using it to communicate with families as well.

On June 1, you’ll receive an invitation email through ParentSquare asking you to activate your account so you can set your notification preferences, choose another language, and use all the engagement features available to you. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices). If you do not activate your account, you’ll still receive messages, but will not be able to use the two-way communication features.

Watch for the message on June 1 which will include more information and an invitation to activate your account. We look forward to using this new system which offers more tools, languages and ways to engage with your child’s school!

ONLINE PAYMENTS
Another new tool for middle and high school families is the ability to make payments online. This online payment website is for paying textbook or library material fees, fines, ASB purchases, school spirit wear, etc. It is NOT for meal balances. You can find the online payment link under the Students and Families tab on school and district home pages and in the Quick Links section of the district home page. We hope this secure and efficient tool makes payments easier for families.

NO SCHOOL MONDAY
Schools and district offices are closed Monday, May 30, in honor of Memorial Day. Have a safe and fun three-day weekend!

Sincerely,

Mukilteo School District
