Principals - Procedures - 6210-P

In conformance with State law, District Policy, rules and regulations, principals will be responsible for:

  1. Creating a positive school climate focused on continuous improvement.

  2. Aligning curriculum, instruction and assessment with State and local learning goals.

  3. Improving student achievement and instruction: monitor, assist and evaluate staff implementation of the school improvement plan, effective instruction and assessment.

  4. Ensuring school safety: lead the development and annual update of comprehensive safe school plans that includes prevention, intervention, crisis response and recovery.

  5. Planning with data: lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the data-driven plan for improvement of student achievement.

  6. Compliance with State law requiring compulsory school attendance.

  7. Maintenance of a safe and healthy school facility.

  8. Management of human and fiscal resources to accomplish student achievement goals.

  9. Engaging parents and local school community to promote student learning.

  10. Supervising and evaluating all staff assigned to the school.

  11. Making recommendations to the Superintendent regarding appointment, assignment, promotion, transfer, probation or dismissal of school staff.

  12. Ensuring compliance with all provisions of staff collective bargaining agreements.

  13. Maintaining effective communications with student, parents and staff.

  14. Monitoring the expenditure of ASB and building funds.

  15. Fostering a school environment of respect, trust and collaboration with students, staff, families and community members.

Failure to carry out the requirements set forth above will constitute sufficient cause for discharge.
