Program Evaluation - Procedures - 2130-P
Evaluations will be conducted of District programs to ensure they are relevant and high quality. Evaluations are to be conducted by District employees who have evaluation expertise or by external groups or persons who have such expertise and can provide independent and unbiased perspectives. Results from evaluations will be used for continuous improvement and may be reported to the Superintendent and School Board.
The Superintendent or designee may authorize program evaluations and research projects within the District by outside groups or persons when the evaluations and projects are aligned with District goals and objectives and are likely to benefit the District without disrupting school programs and activities. Evaluations and research projects that require funding beyond budgeted amounts must be approved in advance by the Superintendent or designee.
A Research and Assessment Committee will review and provide advice on research proposals and assessment plans. The committee will be composed of administrators, certificated and classified staff, and parents. All research must respect the privacy rights of students and adults, including their right to refrain from participation in accordance with law, Board policies and procedures. The committee chair will inform educators of any approved research projects related to their school or department and will ensure that parents/guardians receive prior notification of any research that collects personal student information and that consent is obtained in accordance with law.
