Attendance Area Transfers - 3131

Mukilteo School District
Students - Series 3000
Attendance Area Transfers - 3131

This policy applies to students who are residents of the Mukilteo School District.

Each student in the District is required to attend the school designated for the geographic attendance area in which they reside.

A parent or guardian may request that their child be allowed to attend another school in the District. Transfer requests must be submitted, in writing, to the Director of Student Services.

If the request for transfer is approved, the parent/guardian must assume responsibility for adequate transportation and supervision to and from school.

If the request for transfer is denied, the parent or guardian may appeal to the Executive Director of Elementary or Secondary Education for review of the Director of Student Services' decision.

As per RCW 28A.225.270, transfers may be granted if the student is a child of a full-time certificated or classified school employee to the school to which the employee is assigned; or a school within the District's K through 12 continuum that includes the school to which the employee is assigned or at a school in the District that provides early intervention services or preschool services if the student is eligible for such services.

The Superintendent is authorized to develop and adopt procedures consistent with this policy.
