Kamiak High School

A flyer for the 2026 Bond Measure featuring Kamiak High School and a $400 million investment.

KAMIAK HIGH SCHOOL

Kamiak High School was constructed in 1993 with East Campus addition in 1999 and music addition in 2002 to accommodate student growth and changing programs. There have also been updates and replacements for aging systems. Over multiple bond cycles, the entire Mukilteo School District community has supported investments at Kamiak High School to address aging infrastructure, and provide students and staff with safe, functional, and reliable learning environments.

2026 CAPITAL BONDS FOR SCHOOLS
The volunteer Capital Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) evaluates and prioritizes facility needs across the district to help ensure bond funding is focused on the highest-priority projects. For the 2026 bond, the committee recommended $400 million in projects from approximately $975 million in identified needs.

The proposed bond includes the following improvements at Kamiak High School:

Gym expansion – expand main gym including new bleachers to accommodate enrollment

Expand building access controls – Add additional doors to access control system and install door contacts on all exterior doors, allowing the main office to monitor whether an exterior door is open at any time.

Integrated door hardware – Install door hardware that can be locked from inside by using a thumb turn that clearly indicates if it is locked or unlocked. The focus will be spaces beyond standard classrooms, including the library, gym, common spaces, and offices.

Technology infrastructure improvements – Reliable technology depends on strong underlying infrastructure, including cabling and servers. The bond will replace aging cabling and add redundancy to help protect data and maintain technology functions during and after emergencies.

Upgrade elevators – Upgrade two elevators that have not had any major upgrades since initial installation.

Upgrade Roofing & Flooring – The Building Condition Assessment identified roofing and flooring requiring replacement. Flooring will focus on areas in the poorest condition, primarily corridors and commons.

Replace synthetic turf & rubberized track – The football field and track was identified to be replaced due to the track having uneven surfaces. This work will address the underlying tree roots causing unsafe track conditions.
