Lake Stickney

LAKE STICKNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Funded by the voter-approved 2014 bond, Lake Stickney Elementary School, Mukilteo School District’s newest elementary school opened in 2016. The design process for the school focused on student experience and learning as well as efficient building system life cycles and operations. Currently, the building systems are within their life cycle and operating as expected with no need for major improvements. The priority for Lake Stickney Elementary School continues to be enhancements for technology, safety and security systems.
2026 CAPITAL BONDS FOR SCHOOLS
The volunteer Capital Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) evaluates and prioritizes facility needs across the district to help ensure bond funding is focused on the highest-priority projects. For the 2026 bond, the committee recommended $400 million in projects from approximately $975 million in identified needs.
The proposed bond includes the following improvements at Lake Stickney Elementary School:
Expand building access controls – Add additional doors to access control system and install door contacts on all exterior doors, allowing the main office to monitor whether an exterior door is open at any time.
Add integrated door hardware – Install door hardware that can be locked from inside by using a thumb turn that clearly indicates if it is locked or unlocked. The focus will be spaces beyond standard classrooms (completed in 2020 bond), including the library, gym, common spaces, and offices.
Add perimeter fencing – Improving security during the school day.
Technology infrastructure improvements – Reliable technology depends on strong underlying infrastructure, including cabling and servers. The bond will replace aging cabling and add redundancy to help protect data and maintain technology functions during and after emergencies.
