NOVEMBER 3, 2026, CAPITAL BOND FOR SCHOOLS
A proposed $400 million school construction bond will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot and includes projects at every school in Mukilteo School District. At Mukilteo Elementary School, the proposed projects focus on safety and security, technology infrastructure, and replacement of aging building systems and playground.

MUKILTEO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Mukilteo Elementary School was built in 1981 and in 2025 received the first phase of a full school replacement.

2026 CAPITAL BOND FOR SCHOOLS
The volunteer Capital Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC) evaluates and prioritizes facility needs across the district to help ensure bond funding is focused on the highest-priority projects. For the 2026 bond, the committee recommended $400 million in projects from approximately $975 million in identified needs.

In 2020, the Capital Bond Advisory Committee recommended a two-phased replacement of the school due to aging critical systems, growth, and the need to improve functionality. The first phase included ten new classrooms and support spaces. The proposed 2026 Capital Bond would complete the replacement of the remaining school buildings.

The proposed bond includes the following improvements at Mukilteo Elementary School:

Complete school replacement – Complete the replacement plan, including construction of new classrooms, gymnasium, multi-purpose room, library, admin, support spaces and site and circulation improvements. All portables will be removed at completion of Phase 2.

Modern building systems - New buildings will include updated HVAC and plumbing systems, fire and life-safety systems, energy-efficient lighting, and other infrastructure designed to improve comfort, reliability, and energy efficiency.

Safety, security, and technology – Expanded access controls, exterior door monitoring, and updated network and technology infrastructure to support teaching, protect student and district data, and maintain essential operations.
